Last weekend was another busy one for Hector Montalvo of Source Marketing Direct, who first travelled to Dublin to give a speech on topics within the sales and marketing industry, before heading back to London to take the stage again.

Mr. Montalvo spoke about teaching and coaching at both seminars, and wanted his audience to do more than listen to his words and instead push to take action on the skills and techniques they had been learning recently. Mr. Montalvo addressed this to his audience, and stressed the importance of executing and applying techniques and practice in the workplace environment.

“Nowadays we are teaching people more and more skills but without solidifying if they actually understood the lessons or not. It is more important for us to observe if they are able to execute the lessons in real business situations,” stated Mr. Montalvo.

There are certain systems and behaviours that all successful sales people must master in order to perform to the best of their ability in sales and marketing. Mr. Montalvo believes that It is important that these are viewed as stepping stones to success – rather than shortcuts. “Each skill set must be learned and understood before moving on to the next.”

The Managing Director of Source Marketing Direct has grown a group of over 250 sales advisors in the UK and Ireland, and put over 20 people into businesses for themselves. He believes it is paramount for budding entrepreneurs to get good at learning and implementing new techniques, as the sales and marketing industry is a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing – and customer service offers little room for error.

In London, Mr. Montalvo invited various business owners to join him on stage to talk about their toughest moments they had to endure, and overcome to achieve their goals. The objective here was to illustrate to those in attendance that everyone has challenges, and no one is immune to them at any level of success. “Face it, deal with it, and continue to put your best foot forward,” states Mr. Montalvo.
